Gerald R. Welch, age 68, passed away on November 8,2024, in Casper ,Wyoming . Gerald was born on July 31, 1956, to John and Dorris Welch . He was a life long resident of Wyoming , with a heart full of love for his family , community and the outdoors .
A proud 1974 graduate of Kelly Walsh High School , Gerald was an Eagle Scout and an active Scout leader , known for leadership and his ability to inspire young people . His passion for the outdoors was unmatched -whether hiking or hunting , he was affectionately referred to as the "mountain man" by those who knew him best . Gerald's love for nature and adventure was only rivaled by his deep commitment to his faith and the people around him .
An active member of the local Church of Christ , Gerald was always ready to lend a helping hand and show kindness to those in need . His thoughtfulness and generosity live on through his organ and tissue donation , a final gift to others that speaks of the love and care he gave throughout his life .
Gerald was well known in the community of Lander , where he owned and operated Tumbleweed Construction . His pride in his work and attention to detail earned him the respect of many , and he left a legacy of quality craftsmanship that will be remembered by all who worked with him .
Preceded in death by both his parents , Gerald leaves behind three siblings : Linda Richardson (Josh), Brad Welch (Karen) , and Gloria Bicknese (David). He is also survived by 4 nieces , Nicole Wollbrink-Wofford, Lindsey Welch, Sarah Webb (Mike) , and Megan Konetzki (Andrew) , as well as his nephew Aaron Bicknese (Taylor). His great nieces and nephews - Alexis, Sheridan , Clayton, Emerson, Houston, Cameron, Peyton , Avery and Reese , will forever carry his memory .
He is also survived by many cousins and dear friends , including his hunting partners Marshall and Barry , who were a source of support and camaraderie during his life .
Gerald's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him , but his memory will live on through the lives he touched and the example he set. His adventurous spirit, caring nature , and unwavering faith will be deeply missed .
A celebration of Gerald's life will be held on May 3, 2025 at the Lander Church of Christ at 11:00 am .
