Funeral services for George McCormick, 70 of Riverton will be held on Friday, June 6 200 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson?s Funeral Chapel in Lander. Ed Murray will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Hudson?s Funeral home of Lander. Visitation will be from 8-10 at the chapel the morning of the service.
George Allen McCormick, age 70, passed away May 31, 2008 in his sleep at his home in Riverton. He was born in Rock Springs, WY on Feb 22, 1938 to John Allen McCormick and Evelyn K. (Miles) McCormick. They Lived in Wansutter and he went to school through the 11th grade there. George worked for all of the Sheep Company in Carbon CO until his family moved to Lander where he went to LVHS. He then worked in the oil fields for many years. In August 1957 he married Irma J. Fowler. There were four children born to this union, and it later ended in divorce. He then later married Marlyn Kennedy, they had one son, and it later ended in divorce. George had the McCormick water service, and owned his own sun flower farm. He also self designed his own cable cutter and worked at it until his health started to fall.
George is survived by his friend and companion Donna Dehn and two daughters; Evelyn Ann Manning of Casper, and Georgia Lou Kane of Crawfordville, FL one son
George A. McCormick of Casper; several grandchildren, and great grandchildren many nieces and nephews, one sister Eilan E. Miller of Lander, one brother William K. McCormick of Lander.
He was preceded in death by parents, brother Charlie, daughter Terri McCormick and son Allen McCormick. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
