Gaynell Turner Findley

November 10, 1922 — November 29, 2017

GayNell Turner Findley, 95, of Lander, WY died on November 29, 2017 at Westward Heights Nursing Home with her daughters by her side.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Sunrise Baptist Church, 3990 S McKinley St, Casper, Wyoming. Her ashes will be buried next to her son in Commerce, TX in the spring.
GayNell was born November 10, 1922, the 7th of 9 children, to Wiley and Myrtle (Lankford) Turner in Commerce, TX. She graduated High School there and married Charles K. Findley on March 21, 1941. They resided in Commerce until 1949 when they moved, with their children, Mary and Ronnie, to Fairfield, TX. They made many lifelong friends there. They moved to Bairoil, WY in 1958. Their third child, Teresa, arrived in 1960. C.K. was an electrician for Sinclair Oil and Gas and GayNell always managed to find a job in the little oilfield town. She was a charter member of Ferris Mountain Community Church in Lamont, WY. She never met a stranger and was genuinely interested in everyone she met. Are you hungry was the first thing you heard walking in her house. She loved to feed everyone and was a great cook. This led to her and her sister, JimmieLou, opening up the Antelope Inn Caf in Bairoil. It became the social hub in the morning for the ladies and their kids and would fill up at noon with the oilfield workers wanting the days special or GayNells famous Chiliburger or Frito Pie. Everyone who worked or ate there was considered family; many kids got their first job there. GayNell was up for any adventure. She was champion shooter in the annual shooting contest at hunting camp. She loved music, dancing and playing card games, especially hand and foot with the grandkids.
After retirement, CK and GayNell were backward snowbirds spending summers on Lake Tawakoni in Texas. Their grandsons, Zach and Blake, spent their childhood summers with them. Many fish fries were had with family and friends. In the fall they would come back to Wyoming for hunting and the holidays.
GayNell spent her last years living with her daughter, Mary, who took exceptional care of her mama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-Ronnie, husband, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Survivors include her sister, Wanda Land of Casper, sister in law Ruth (Herb) Dalke of TX, brother in law, Bob (Sue) Findley of WA, Daughters; Mary Land and Teresa (Brad) Lozier, of Lander, Grandchildren; Zach (Hannah) Fuhriman, Blake (Alissa) Fuhriman, Debi (Carl) West, Tammy (Ray) Greene, 9 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
