Frances E. Cleavenger
Frances E. (Peterson) Cleavenger was born in Harvey, North Dakota on July 21, 1928, the daughter of Sophie and Oscar Peterson.
Frances married Lyle T. "Chuck" Cleavenger on May 5, 1945. They lived in 6ranville, North Dakota until 1960. While living in Granville they had four children and then moved to Belf ield, North Dakota. They lived in Belf ield with their family until retirement in 1976. Together they had a lifelong career working for the Standard Oil Company. Frances assisted her husband in many ways. She was the company's bookkeeper, prepared financial reports, and annual audits. In addition to working by her husband's side she was a full time mother to her four children.
Frances was an excellent cook. She loved to experiment with new recipes and had a willing partaker in her husband, Lyle. He enjoyed eating anything she prepared. Frances loved to travel. Many of Frances and Lyle's excursions included camping, fishing, and hunting. After retirement, they purchased a recreational vehicle and enjoyed traveling the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
She is survived by her husband, Lyle T. Cleavenger; daughters, Gail Grass of Lender, Wyoming, Karen Lawson of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Faye Long of Newport, Vermont; son, Kevin Cleavenger of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Joan Sawyer of Lander, Wyoming, Ryan Kessel of Lander, Wyoming, Robyn Kessel of Lander, Wyoming, Cristina Valentine of Chandler, Arizona, Carrie Long of Thornton, Vermont, and David Long of Newport, Vermont. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Brent Lyle Valentine.
Frances died peacefully in her home on May 1, 2011 at the age of 82. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by family members and loved ones.
Viewing hours were held at the Hudson's Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 4. Funeral services for Frances E. Cleavenger were held on May 5th at the Presbyterian Covenant Church in Lander, Wyoming. Pastor Phil Strong and Pastor Scott MacNaughton, long time family friend, officiated the service.
