Ferne Irene Palmer was born on December 29, 1928 in De Smit, SD to John and Martha Ebbenga. As a young child the family lived in Minnesota, Iowa and then settling in Rapid City, South Dakota. She grew up there with her seven siblings attending school until the 10th grade. She married Tim Regan in Lander, Wyoming on March 2, 1946, making Lander their home and raising their six children. Fern was widowed in November 1980, and married Andy Palmer on November 7, 1987 in Lander where they continued to make their home.
Fern loved most of all being a mom and a homemaker. When most of the children had grown up and moved away she started to work in the Lander school lunch rooms, working for 15 years. After the passing of her husband Tim, she moved with her son and family to Mesa, AZ. During that time, she volunteered at her granddaughters kindergarten class as an aid. She received an award of appreciation from the school and the children for all her help and support. When Fern returned to Lander, she volunteered at the hospital auxiliary, serving as president for two years. Fern was active in her Church and was an active member of the Christian Womens club where she worked and served on the board for many years. Her love of flower gardening kept her busy in the summer. Crocheting, crafting, puzzles and listening to Andy play the piano helped to pass the time during the long Lander winters.
She is survived by her husband, Andy Palmer; children, Vicky (Bernie) Eklund of Valentine, NE, Ron Regan of Loveland, CO, Clark Regan of Gillette, WY, LaDonna (Gary) Pickinpaugh of Riverton, WY, Henry (Julia) Regan of Moorcroft, WY and step-daughter Jan (Scott) Sears of Lander, WY; grandchildren, Tony and Jarred Eklund, Scott and Christopher Pickinpaugh, Sheleen Jarmen and Tanya Regan, Natasha Regan, Tamysen Regan, Aubrey Whitney, Patrick Regan; step-grandsons Josh and Chad White, and Jacob Sears. 13 great grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tim Regan Jr. and son Tim Regan III., her parents and five siblings.
