Fergus Frederick Ramier of Lander, Wyoming died in Riverton, Wyoming on October 6, 2014 surrounded by his family. A Memorial service with military honors will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 13, 2014, First United Methodist Church in Lander, Wyoming.
Fergus (Fergie) was born in Port Daniel, Quebec, Canada on January 7, 1926; the son of George and Bertha Ramier.He moved to Southern Ontario, then upstate New York where he worked as a Well Driller and House Builder, marrying the love of his life, Marilyn Pierce, on September 10, 1955. His U.S. Army military service was served fighting with the 32nd Infantry in the Korean War.They settled in Medina, New York, running their family farm, raising their 2 sons while he worked nights at a foundry.They moved to Lander, Wyoming in 1979 where he worked at the courthouse.After retirement he was always very active, helping his many friends and neighbors, volunteering at his church's thrift shop and the food bank.
He will be remembered for his outgoing, candid demeanor, his quick wit and subtle sense of humor, and most of all, his love of life.He very much enjoyed Wyoming, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Fergus was a wonderful Husband, Father, and Friend of everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed. His last words before he passed were, "I love everybody, I had a good life."
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Bertha Ramier; brothers Lindsay and Goldie Ramier; and his sisters Alma Robinson and Winifred Dea. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Ramier; his sister Ruth Mulligan of Ottawa, Canada; son Kent Ramier with wife Maria, grandchildren Ralph and Thinalyn of Anchorage, Alaska; son Douglas Ramier with wife Lynda, and grandchild Marie of Powell, Wyoming.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lander, Wyoming.
