Everett Duane Hallett

July 18, 1939 — October 29, 2024

Duane "Cap" Hallett, 85, of Lander, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024.
Born on July 18, 1939, in Lander, Wyoming, he was one of thirteen children who grew up in this
close-knit community.
Duane spent his career as a maintenance worker at the uranium mine, where his reliability and
punctuality earned him the respect of his colleagues. His gentle nature and easy-going
personality were hallmarks of his character, often captured in his polite habit of saying "pardon"
and his good-humored comments about "those fast drivers" on the road.
A devoted fan of the Dodgers and Broncos, Duane found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was a
familiar face at the Oxbow restaurant, where his daily breakfast visits and warm friendship with
his favorite waitress, Sandy, became a cherished part of his routine.
He is survived by his brother Norman Hallett (and his son Michael Hallett), brother Ken Hallett,
and sister Carolyn (Hallett) Stone; his cherished daughters Shirley Hallett and Mary Laabs; his
beloved grandchildren Shawn Laabs, Heather Oliver, Heidi Laabs, Trisha LeClair, and Jimmy
Laabs; and ten precious great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
The family extends special thanks to his dedicated caregivers from Compassionate Care for
Uranium Workers - Rae Zerga, Jamie Weese, and Stormy Burns - along with their wonderful
staff. Additional gratitude goes to the Wind River Dialysis staff for their exceptional care and
friendship during his treatments.
Viewing services will be held on Sunday, November 3rd, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Hudson's
Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Monday, November 4th, at 1:00 PM, also
at Hudson's Funeral Home, followed by burial Mount Hope Cemetery. A memorial
reception will follow at the Garnet Room in the Lander Inn.
Duane will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and devotion to family. His
gentle spirit and considerate nature touched all who knew him, and his greatest joy was seeing
his family grow and flourish through generations.

A visitation will be held at 6:00 P.M. at the Hudson's Funeral Home (680 Mount Hope Dr. Lander, Wyoming 82520) on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
