Eugene (Gene) Ferry passed away Monday, May 4th 2026 at home in Lander Wyoming. He was 81.
Gene was born in Parco (now Sinclair) Wyoming and spent much of his childhood there. Later he spent
his summers in Wyoming and winters in central California where he attended high school. He was a
voracious learner of all things mechanical, and mastered several trades while there, including welding
and mechanics. Immediately after high school he and a friend rode their motorcycles around the
outline of the United States just for the adventure.
He earned a diploma from UCLA in Dental Technology and worked in the field for many years building
dental prosthetics, eventually opening his own dental lab in Rawlins making crowns and bridges.
In 1969 he married fellow Parco native Sandra Masson. Together they lived in Sinclair, but in the
1970's they homesteaded a parcel of land outside of Lander where Gene continued his practice.
He is remembered by his friends and family for his passion of aviation, and he logged thousands of
hours in small classic and antique airplanes to destinations all over the America, to places as far away
as Alaska and southern Florida. His natural flying abilities are legendary at airports all over the region,
and he became a mentor to many fellow pilots.
Gene loved animals, nature, fishing, reading, and learning, but he especially loved Wyoming and all
the forms of freedom it represents. He delighted in exploring the state whether by dirt bike,
motorcycle, car, or airplane. His adventurous spirit has been an inspiration to many.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Ferry (née Masson), brothers-in-law Bill Masson & Dr. Gregory
Masson, sister-in-law Cheri Outland (née Masson) and her husband Tom, nieces Reneé Stewart and
Rhonda Belles (née Dwyer), their respective spouses Jack and John, nephew Randy Dwyer & spouse
Becky, and numerous grand-nephews & nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents Orval & Opal Ferry, Goldie & Bill Scrivner, and by his sister
Eleanor(Sis) Dwyer & her husband Ward.
