Estelle Lorrine Halbert passed away peacefully at her home in Boise, Idaho on March 28, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on May 13, 1936, in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, Estelle was the daughter of JB and Francis Wallace and one of two beloved daughters. She first married Bill O'Neal Jr., with whom she had a son, William Lane. In 1957, she married Norman Halbert, and together they had two daughters, Trena Marie and Tami Kaye.
Estelle had a lifelong love for bowling. She not only played the sport but also coached and worked at bowling alleys in Cheyenne and Lander, Wyoming, and Ontario, Oregon. Her passion and dedication led to numerous accolades throughout her life. She was inducted as a life member into the Cheyenne Women's Bowling Association in 1983 and won the Wyoming State Queens Championship in 1991. She entered the Lander WBA Hall of Fame in 1992, was part of the Senior High Five Team in 1998, and proudly celebrated 30 years of participation in the Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC) championship tournaments.
Estelle and Norman cherished their retirement years, spending time between Wyoming, Idaho, and Arizona, where they built lasting friendships and meaningful memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, JB and Francis Wallace; her sister, Shirley Latinis; and just a month after her passing, by her devoted husband, Norman Halbert, on April 29, 2025.
Estelle is lovingly remembered by her children: Billy (Tish) O'Neal, Trena (Mike) Fries, and Tami (Carl) Mangum; her bonus children, Troy and Kathy Latinis, and Greg and Cathy Hampton; grandchildren: Troy (Torah) O'Neal, Cheyne (Chelsea) O'Neal, Ty (Shannon) O'Neal, and Tia (Isaiah) Holladay; bonus grandchildren Breezy (Mike) O'Connor and Jacob Latinis; and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored with all her heart.
A celebration of life honoring Estelle, her husband Norman, and her sister Shirley will be held at Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander, Wyoming on Tuesday, July 8 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow, with details to be announced at the service. Food will be served, and all who knew and loved Estelle are warmly invited to attend.
