ELSIE GRIFFIN:

Elsie passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Spring Creek, NV on Friday January 5, 2018, surrounded by family.

Memorial Services for Elsie (Hinkle) Griffin will be held on Friday January 12, 2018 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Lander.A lunch will be held at the church immediately following the service, with Internment to follow at 2:30 at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.

Elsie Griffin was born Elsie Maude Hinkle, May 3, 1928, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to George Jacob Hinkle and Merle (Harrison) Hinkle, the third of five children.

In 1935, the family moved from Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Riverton, Wyoming where George and Merle farmed and raised their family.

Elsie attended Riverton schools, graduating in 1946.Along with her dear friends Ruth Gasser and Alvina Bush, she relocated to Santa Cruz, CA. to attend Western Union School.While in CA, Elsie met her husband James (Frank) Armsworthy who was in the military.They married in 1948 at Riverton WY, and she followed him in his military service.Together they had three daughters.

In 1959 she met and married Henry (Pink) Griffin and they blended their families.Relocating from Riverton to Lander in 1962.Pink working for US Steel and Elsie ran a daycare from her home.

Elsie work for many years at the Wyoming State Training School where again her love for children was shown.She helped establish and then managed the first daycare at the Training School for the children of staff members.

Her love of God, family and friends was a part of her every day.She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and served wherever she was called.She was actively involved with the thrift shop and volunteered her time right up until she moved to Spring Creek Nevada to live with her daughter Pat and son-in-law Pete.

Elsie is survived by her sister Georgan (Virgil) Ellerbruch of Brookings, SD., Daughters Pat (Pete) Plaster of Spring Creek, NV, Dorothy (Ron) Pozun of Warm Springs, VA., Tina (Don) Harrington of Lander, WY.Step Children Gary (Jan) Griffin of Lander, WY., Jay Griffin of Loveland, Co., Jo Anne (Doug) Kleevesof Fletcher, NC., 15 Grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents George and Merle Hinkle, Husbands Frank Armsworthy and Pink Griffin, brothers, Robert, Bill and Ray Hinkle.Daughter Nancy Griffin, Son Haas Griffin, Step-daughter Orlene (Marshall) Bond, Step-son Lyle (Patty) Bybee.

Memorial Donations may be made in Elsies honor to the First United Methodist Church of Lander.
