Eleanor Agnes Boedeker

Funeral services for Agnes Boedeker, 98, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October, 30, at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Peacock officiating followed by graveside services and internment at Mount Hope Cemetery.





She died October 27,2010, at Westward Heights Care Center of natural causes.


She was born July 27, 1912, to Ella and Richard Glasgow at Lingle, Wyoming. She moved with her family to a farm near Ethete, Wyoming in the spring of 1917. She was a 1930 graduate of Fremont County Vocational High School, and attended Blackburn College for two years in Carlinville, Illinois. Upon receiving her teaching certificate, she taught at rural schools at Twin Creek and North Fork.





She married Ralph Boedeker on May 18, 1935. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor they moved to Portland, Oregon, where Ralph worked on constructing an airport and later moved to the Bremerton, Washington area where Ralph worked in the shipyard until 1946.


They then returned to Lander and Agnes returned to teaching and received her BA from the University of Wyoming. She taught grades one and two for two years at Hudson, and taught first grade an additional 28 years at Lander Southside School.





After retirement she enjoyed traveling and doing volunteer work. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her interests included, playing pinochle, solving crossword puzzles, gardening, watching birds, deer and squirrels in her yard, walking, camping, fishing and being in the out of doors. She was known for her good sense of humor and always enjoyed life to the fullest.





She was a past Pioneer Days Parade Marshall, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Eastern Star, and AARP where she served 2 years as president, two years as secretary and three years as legislative chairman. She received the 1986 National AARP Community Service Award. She was a two-year charter member of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board, and a seven-year member of the Senior Citizen Board of Directors. Agnes also was a member of the first Wyoming Silver Haired Legislature, serving for two years. She was active in the United Methodist Church and was Church financial secretary for 22 years and worked in the Thrift Shop for 16 years





She is survived by her son Bob and his wife Fritzy; a daughter Ruth; grandchildren Dale, Ken, Carrie, Greg, and Janet; 6 great-grandchildren Megan, Kelsey, Mack, MacKenzie, Jennifer and Jessica; and a brother, Don Glasgow and his wife Charlene.





She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, a son Edward and his wife Susan, her mother and father, and her brothers Albert, Darrel, and Harold Glasgow.
