Eileen T. Hixson died at her home in Lander in the presence of her two daughters and her beloved dog Missy, on January 13, 2009. She was 82.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. January 20, 2009 at Hudson Funeral Home in Lander Wyoming, with internment following at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Eileen Theresa Tabler was born on July 15, 1926 in New York City New
York, the daughter of Edgar and Theresa Streigel Tabler. She was the
second of ten children.
On April 9, 1944 Eileen married Howard Alvin Hixson the love of her life at Saint Patricks Cathedral in New York City. Together they had three children. Linda Eileen,, Howard Jr., and Brenda Lynn.
Mrs. Hixson was in the American Legion Auxiliary for 25 years. She held the office of Sergeant at Arms and other offices up to the First Vice President. She was very proud to have carried the American Flag at the conventions and also in the 4
th
of July parades.
Mrs. Hixson was a volunteer at Westward Heights Nursing Home taking Birthday and Christmas cards over for all the residents on their special days. It made her so happy to see their smiling faces.
Mrs. Hixson worked for several years at the Wyoming State Training School
and also at the Wyoming Highway Department in Lander until her
retirement.
Mrs. Hixson's family said she enjoyed going camping in the great outdoors of Wyoming and fishing was her highlight. She also enjoyed reading especially about Wyoming History. She loved working on the family genealogy. She so enjoyed feeding the wild birds and so loved watching the deer come to visit every evening and looking in her windows.
Eileen also loved going for rides on her electric wheelchair " this was her car" with her beloved companion, her little dog MISSY. They were such a cute pair.
Mrs. Hixson is survived by her little dog Missy, her daughters Linda and her husband Gary Gordon and Brenda Hixson , all of Lander, Wyo.

Ann and Rod Ruffing of Minot Air Force Base , North Dakota and great grandsons Matthew and Nickolas and Grandson Gary Neal and Leslie Gordon of Billings, Montana and great grandson Gary James and Great granddaughter Audrey Loraine.
Her nephew Paul Tramp and his daughter
Kelsey of Lander. She is also survived by her brother Edgar Tabler and wife Patty of Pleasant Mount, Pennsylvania, her sisters Rosemarie Cunningham of Parlin, New Jersey, Kathleen Brennan and Barbara Smith of Saugerties,
New York. Brothers in Law John Hixson of Glenrock, Wyo. Norman Hixson
and wife Marilyn of Goshen, Kentucky and Laddie Hixson and wife Sarah of Hampton, Arkansas. Sisters in Law Altha Gaither of Oakhurst, Oklahoma and Irene Tabler of Glenford, New York. Mrs. Hixson was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, her son
Howard Jr, her parents, her brothers Edwin and James Tabler, and her sisters
Patricia Scalera, Joan and Dorothy Tabler.
