Eileen Mary Milburn, age 100, died peacefully on October 1, 2015. Services will be held on Friday, October 9th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander, WY. A Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8th at the Chapel of Mount Hope Hudson's Funeral Home.
Eileen, "Neener," as she was known to family; enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing Bridge, and crossword puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed being surrounded by her family, especially when she was hosting family celebrations. Eileen was best known for her beautiful flower gardens and her many varieties of homemade pies.Eileen was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Alter Society of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Eileen was born on May 11, 1915 to Henry Freese and Margaret Carraher in Elgin, Nebraska. The Freese family came to Lander in 1917 and made their family home on a ranch on Pope Lane and later in the Sinks Canyon area. Eileen graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1933. She later went on to become the Deputy Fremont County Clerk.
On August 19, 1946, Eileen married Robert Fredrick Milburn at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lander. Eileen became a mother of two sons, Robert Dale (Christine Sandahl) and Jerry W. (Polly Huggins). Eileen acted as a den mother for both boys during their years in Cub Scouts. Upon the boys attending school, Eileen took a position at the Wyoming State Journal newspaper where she worked for many years. Later she and Bob partnered with the St. John family in Western Printing where she and Bob worked until their retirement.
Eileen had seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, all of whom she enjoyed greatly. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bob; her parents; brothers, Frances "Bud" Freese, James "Tuffy" Freese; sisters, Maxine Cullen, Alice Moran, Pat Preston and Barbara Williams.
She is survived by her sons Robert (Chris) Milburn and Jerry (Polly) Milburn; her brother, Paul (Elsie) Freese; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
