Eileen L. Harnsberger

Eileen L. Harnsberger, 87, of Lander passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024 after a brief illness.  Services will take place at the Hudson Cemetery in July 2025.  Per her wishes, there will not be a memorial service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Chapel at the Wyoming Life Resouce Center or the Lander Senior Citizens Center Foundation.

Eileen was born on February 8, 1937 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Peter and Anna (Bonnella)Rogers.  The family later moved to Hudson, Wyoming where Eileen attended the Hudson school and later graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1955.

She married Harry S. Harnsberger Jr. in June of 1956, welcoming 5 children.  They divorced 8 years later. Never to remarry, Eileen raised 5 children as a single mother having 4 children in high school all at the same time.  Eileen was employed at the Wyoming State Training School for over 30 years, retiring as a Cottage Supervisor.  She considered herself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work close to her daughter Laura, who resided at WSTS for most of her life.  Eileen was a passionate supporter for proper services to be provided by the State of Wyoming to the residents of WSTS, often calling and writing letters to local legislators and statewide elected officials.

Eileen was always into the latest craft fad, and after her retirement spent many hours creating merchandise to have available for sale at local craft fairs.  She perfected her crafts after dressing her children in ill-fitting knitted mittens, hats, and sweaters, and later perfecting quillows, crocheted hand towels, and quilted table runners.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother David Rogers; her sister Jean Corbett; and her daughter Laura.  She is survived by her brother Paul (Shannon) Rogers; children H. Scott (Teddi) Harnsberger, Patricia (Rick) Christensen, David (Sherry) Harnsberger, and Alyce (Steve) Peters.  11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
