Parkhurst
Edwin Leroy Parkhurst, Jr., 84, of Thermopolis, passed away July 25, 2019 at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper following a short illness.
He was born to Lavinia and Edwin Parkhurst on Nov. 23, 1934 in Woodward, Okla. The family relocated to the Lander area in 1936 where Junior attended school through the eighth grade. He joined the U.S. Army in 1958 where he served in Germany for two years. Upon returning from his military service, Junior became reacquainted with and married Iona Parkhurst.
Junior owned and operated Parkhurst Trucking in Lander for many years before moving to Thermopolis. He loved animals of all kinds and raised cattle and sheep throughout his retirement years.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; stepfather Alvin Thompson; and sister, Irene Van Winkle.
Junior is survived by step-sons, Mike Sutherland of Thermopolis, and Steve (Linda) Sutherland, of Thermopolis; brother, Ray (Hiroko) Parkhurst of Ethete; sister, Mary (Derrell) Jaques of Arriba, Colo.; step-brothers, Garth (Terry) Thompson of Laramie, Mark (Sandy) Thompson of Riverton; step-sisters, Gail Price of Casper and Julia Baehr of Lander; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation is planned at the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudsons Funeral Home in Lander on Friday, Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Graveside service will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Lander, Wyoming at 1 p.m.. Please sign the on-line guestbook: www.HudsonsFuneralHome.com
