Edward Lee Patterson, age 88, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Ridgeview Memory Care Center in Spokane Valley, Washington.
Ed was born on March 3, 1932 in Cimarron, New Mexico to Hubert and Pearl (Ragle) Patterson. Ed graduated from Cimarron Highschool in 1949. He joined the US Air Force in January of 1951 and trained as a Turret System Mechanic on B-52 Aircraft, stationed at Fairchild AFB, Washington. While stationed there, Ed met Beverly LaMarr in 1952 and they were married later that year.
Ed and Beverly had 4 children. Following his service obligation, Ed attended the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM and received a BS degree in 1960 and a MS in Electrical Engineering in 1963. Ed worked for Sandia National Labs from 1959-1994, specializing in Laser Weapons Research. He and Beverly divorced and Ed later married Carol Loving, adding 2 daughters to the family.
Upon retirement, Ed and Carol moved to Dubois, Wyoming from 1992 to 2017. They loved the outdoors, spending much of his time hunting and fishing.
Ed was proceeded in death by his father, Hubert, his mother Pearl; brothers, Bob and Bert and a sister Mary.
Ed is survived by his wife Carol of Los Alamos, NM; son's Mike (Donna) of Dubois, WY, Steve (Linda) of Carmichael, CA, and Dan (Corinne) of Lone, CA ; daughter Kathy (Terry Poffenberger) of Spokane Valley, WA; step-daughters Jana (Patrick McClure) and Judy Loving; brother John Patterson of Albuquerque, NM; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Should friends desire, memorials might be made to Pete's Pond or Needs of Dubois.
Private graveside services were held at the Dubois Cemetery, Dubois, Wyoming.
Memorial Services to honor Ed's life will be held at a later time, once it is safe for all of us to gather together.
