FESSLER, Edith (Fox) Fessler, 77, of Lander, Wyoming, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012, at Lander Regional Hospital. The Edith Phyllis Fessler Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on April 20, 2012 in the Chapel of Mount Hope, Hudson's Funeral Home, Lander.
Edith was born June 14, 1934, in Lander, Wyoming, to Sequoyah and Bertie (Snyder) Fox. She was a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe.
Edith attended Riverton High School and University of Wyoming to study music. She was an avid piano player in her younger years.
Edith married Carl Anthony Fessler on October 10, 1964 in Denver, Colorado where they lived and raised five children. Her occupations consisted of office management at places such as the Rocky Mountain News, Denver Brick and Pipe, and Atlas Metal Sales.
Edith enjoyed classical music, reading, sewing, knitting, attending family gatherings and picnics, as well as sight seeing around Wyoming. She enjoyed watching football, especially the Denver Broncos and UW Cowboys. Edith was caring, witty, and charming and touched the lives of many and she never turned her back on someone in need whether it be a stranger or friend.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Fessler and her parents Sequoyah and Bertie Fox as well as numerous aunts and uncles. After the passing of her husband, Edith devoted her life to raising her children, putting them first and making many sacrifices to ensure they were safe and had all their needs met.
Edith is survived by her sisters Anne Fox and Ona Rudolph of Denver, Colorado, five children: Sarah (Isaac) Manning, Susan Fessler, and Catherine Fessler (Ken Persson), of Lander, Wyoming; Michael Fessler (Heather Johnson), of Denver, Colorado, and Phillip (Whitney) Fessler of Flagstaff, Arizona. She also is survived by four grandchildren and two on the way, along with three nephews and three nieces.
