Don Hankins was born on December 7, 1944 to Harvey William Hankins and Faye Chamberlain in Riverton, Fremont County, Wyoming.
Our family would like to share a few things as we say goodbye to our dear loved one. Don Hankins worked in the trucking industry for over 26 years, he earned an associate degree in mechanics and worked in the uranium industry. More than that hard work he did for his family, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing music. (Those barn dances were so much fun with him singing and playing his guitar along with the other musicians.)
Don was a very loving husband of 62 years to his wife Connie, a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. A true friend to his brothers, Jess, Bert and Teddy, who he loved dearly. Don was a devoted son and dearly missed his parents when they passed. He was a friend to many people.
He had joy to share every day that we saw him. He loved all the kids that came his way. He was a father figure to many kids not even his own and always happy to share the fun. Every kid in the neighborhood was invited to go fishing if he went. All his kids, grandkids and great grandkids are devastated to lose him. We all are. He was the special man who taught us to tie our shoes, ride a bike, how to start a fire, tie a good knot, fish, hunt, ride a four wheeler, dirt bike, how to drive on the back roads, how to eat grass hoppers lol, enjoy a good ice cream, how to make and eat a great steak (in which after the steak or whatever delicious meal, he would say, "My tank is full and my heart is glad.") He showed us the purest unconditional love, what it was to like to be supported and believed in NO MATTER WHAT, we are all so glad he was able to be such a big part of our lives. Don Hankins was the real damn deal! We are all so thankful to have had him in our lives.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Faye; daughter, Esther; brother, Teddy; and sister, Doris.
Don had 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
