Memorial Services for Donald Larue Brewer, 66, of Lander will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Lander with Pastor Fred Schroeder officiating.Hudson's Funeral Chapel of Lander is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Larue Brewer was born on July 10, 1945 to Dewey Hennington Brewer and Dorothy Lou Ready Brewer in Tylertown, Mississippi.Donald grew up and attended his schooling, after his schooling, he served four years in the US Air Force from 1965-1969 and also was a member of the US Air Force Reserve for nine years. He married Laura Lenhardt on June 16, 1988 at Metairie, Louisiana.Don joined the New Orleans Police Dept, where he quickly attained the rank of Sergeant, then Lieutenant.He served there as Director of the Police Academy, and in the District, retiring after 23 years to Wyoming.
Don was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and back packing with his wife.For a time he also served as a lay minister in his local Lutheran Church.Don enjoyed people, and always had a good story to tell.He also loved to watch football and was a loyal New Orleans Saints Fan.Don was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Lander, The N.R.A. and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Don is survived by his wife, Laura Brewer, of Lander, two children; Ginny Lynn Brewer Zeigler and her husband Steve and Donald Scott Brewer aand his wife Vienna Vance Brewer one brother Michael Eugene Brewer and his wife Joyce and Wanda Lynn Brownlee six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother Kenneth Brewer.
