Devin James Hubble

February 4, 1960 — January 5, 2026

Devin James Hubble, 65, passed away on January 5, 2026, in Lander, Wyoming. Born on February 4, 1960, in Greeley, Colorado. Devin lived a life marked by dedication to family, a passion for the outdoors, and an enduring love for the game of softball.

Devin graduated from Lander Valley High School in 1978. He played football and excelled in track. Devin remained deeply connected to his community throughout his life. His commitment to the sport of softball was both profound and widely recognized. Over his 35+ years of umpiring, Devin would umpire up to 400 games every summer. His contributions to the sport earned him an induction into the Wyoming Softball Hall of Fame in 2009. He was one of five umpires chosen in the United States to officiate the annual Border Battle in Oklahoma City in 2011—a prestigious matchup between the United States and Canada men’s slowpitch softball teams.

When Devin wasn't umpiring, he worked other various jobs. After high school, he worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company and Western Nuclear in Jeffrey City as an underground miner. He was a custodian and maintenance supervisor for FCSD #1 for 28 years. In the years leading to retirement, Devin drove water trucks in North Dakota and Central Wyoming chasing black liquid gold. His time spent in North Dakota was cherished with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in Crosby. While he was there, they enjoyed pheasant hunting, fishing and quality time together.

Beyond the field, Devin was known for his adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter who found joy in camping trips, fishing excursions, and time spent in the mountains. Whether traveling or attending family reunions, he cherished every opportunity to be with loved ones.

Those who knew Devin will remember him as a devoted husband, dad and grandpa who was delighted in watching his grandchildren play sports. He brought laughter wherever he went—especially during Christmas when he would play Chevy Chase for Tecia amidst her collection of festive blow-up decorations. Tecia was Devin's high school sweetheart. Married for 43 years, together for 49 years. They made their lifelong promise to each other on September 10th, 1983. He was a diehard fan of the Chicago Bears. Devin’s enthusiasm for football matched his love for a good prank.

Family was at the heart of Devin’s world. He is survived by his beloved wife Tecia Hubble (Stroh); his son Coby Hubble and wife Amanda; his daughter Whitney Sutt and husband Philip; his mother Mavis Hubble (Hall); his brother Darin Hubble and wife Holly; his sister Holly Reed (Hubble) husband Vince; and his sister-in-law Sharlie Hubble (David Hubble's wife). Devin was a proud grandfather to Delilah, Trevin, Landon, Lucas, McKenzie and Madilyn. He was preceded in death by his father Jim Hubble and brother David Hubble.

Devin James Hubble leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church 339 Sweetwater St.
