David 'Davey' Steven Valdez, 86, of Ethete, Wyoming, passed away on August 23, 2021 in Murray, Utah.
Rosary and wake will be at 7 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 at 232 Willow St., Ethete, Wyoming.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 232 Willow St., Ethete, Wyoming with the Reverend Roxanne Friday, of Our Father's House, officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Cemetery.
David was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to John M. Valdez and Juanita Aragon-Lopez Valdez on September 30, 1934. He went to school at Riverton High School. He graduated in 1954. He married Mary Ella Brown on January 26, 1962 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He worked as a bus driver, custodian, U.S. Steel Mine, Norris Ford, Tom Youtz Ford, John Deere, Sho-Rap Fighter, and Camp Crew boss. David loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He supported them in all of their activities. His other hobbies were the casino, picking up aluminum cans, and showing his green card. He loved all sports and watching them. His favorite teams were the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Avalanche and most of all the Wyoming Indian High School Chiefs. He liked to watch Wyoming State basketball and go to the Denver March Powwow. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and served in the Air Force, from 1955-1959. He was involved in the Diabetes Club and was of the Catholic faith.
David is survived by his daughters Cara Moon, Rita and Ben Ridgley, Rosetta Hutchinson, Rosita Willow, and Bonnie Jo Wallingbull. His sons Lyle Valdez, Robert and Andra Valdez, Juan Valdez, Burton Darrell Hutchinson Jr, George Dale Wallingbull, Patrick Wallingbull, Richard Wallingbull and David Lonebear. His nephew's Raymond and Jane Dewey, Jerry Hernandez, John Sena, Paul Valdez and Cash Valdez. His nieces Raquel and Sophia Valdez. His grandchildren Belynn Ridgley, Bennie Sue Ridgley and Ryan Ortiz, Brooke Ridgley and Andrew Whiteplume, Calley Valdez and Sherman Redman, Boniface Ridgley, Chanice Glenmore and Al C'Bearing, Carmrol Braxton Ridgley, Quannah and Andy C'Hair, Chaske Valdez and Kailyn Washakie, Blanche Ridgley and Anthony Isis, Andrew Lloyd Hutchinson, Antonia Valdez, Noah Valdez, Elizabeth Valdez, Noviani Valdez, Alexis Duran, Joe Duran, Lyla Duran, Elsie Mae Marquez, Phoenix Marquez, Joey Wallowingbull, Whisper Hebah, Raylene and Jordan Roof, Amber Blackburn, Tonya Dewey, and Dallon Dewey. His great-grandchildren Rai'el Valdez, Tataiyana Gambler, Winter Ridgley, Chaunte Redman, Madison Ridgley, Tyren Ridgley, Joaquin Redman, Ciara Gambler, Angelea Ridgley, Alexis Whiteplume, Danaisha Brown, Faylene Ridgley, Donte Gambler, Aquinnah Ridgley, Mason Ridgley-Ortiz, Jayden Ridgley, Reighann Ortiz, Mya Whiteplume, Ayannah C'Hair, Enoch Valdez, Evan, Ella Ortiz, Avelia Valdez, Willow Whiteplume, Embree, Arius C'Hair, Aiyah C'Bearing, Eavaza Aragon, Eavander Trosper, Quintin Dewey and Lexi Condo, Nani Stacey, Nadia Stacey, Nolan Stacey, Jr, Daniel Frazier, Jr, Arianna Frazier, Brooklyn Frazier, Jacob Freddy, Sianii Dewey, Eliza Dewey, and Lilah Dewey. His great great-grandchildren Ree Dewey and Azaiah Quinn and many other adopted brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and beloved friends that are too numerous to list.
David was well known and an avid supporter of all on the Wind River Reservation, he was known to many people as a brother, father, uncle, grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers are Boniface Ridgley, Carmrol Braxton Ridgley, Chaske Valdez, Noah Valdez, Tyren Ridgley, Joaquin Redman and John Sena. Honorary Pallbearers are Mason Ridgley-Ortiz, Donte Gambler, Jayden Ridgley, Enoch Valdez, Arius C'Hair, Azaiah Quinn, Melvin Oldman, Aaron Friday, Nathan Friday, Jared Wallingbull, Raymond Dewey, FireFighter and Camp Crew Buddies.
David is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ella Valdez and daughter Verdonna Rae Valdez, brother's Abel Valdez, Pete Valdez, Ruben Ronald Hernandez, and Richard Gerald 'Jerry' Hernandez.
