Daphene Minter

October 11, 1934 — April 19, 2017

2 Timothy 4:6-7
"As for me, I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come.I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness."

Daphene Minter, 82, passed peacefully on a lovely spring day, April 19, 2017, in Lander, Wyoming.

Daphene was born to the late Oscan and Beulah Telchik, October 11, 1934 in Amherst, Texas.She was a graduate of O'Donnell High School, and Abilene Christian College and received a Masters of Education from Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas.

Daphene met her soul-mate, Jack Minter, while attending Abilene Christian and they were married August 13, 1955.Jack and Daphene taught school and farmed in Borden County, Texas until 1966.In 1966 they moved to Canberra, Australia as missionaries and agricultural consultant for cotton programs in New South Wales.

Jack and Daphene moved to Riverton, Wyoming in October, 1967. Daphene taught kindergarten and High School Home Economics for over 25 years and Jack was a realtor.

Daphene was engaged in the school and community, and was an active sponsor and supporter throughout her teaching career.

Jack and Daphene retired to Borden County where they were involved in the family cotton farm in 1990 and moved to Lander, Wyoming in 2010.

Daphene was an active and faithful member of the church of Christ, serving her church family as a teacher and with her gift of hospitality – there was always room for one more person at her table.She loved having people in her home, creating places for people to fellowship and encourage one another.She was also a talented seamstress and quilter, showing her love for people not only in thought, but her actions as well.

Daphene was a strong Christian woman, a devoted wife and mother who will be missed by her family and friends.She is survived by her husband, Jack, Sr., daughter, LaRhea, son, Jack, Jr; six grand-children:Lee Pepper of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Talin Pepper of Burleson, Texas, Kelly Strickland of Pensacola, Florida, Ethan Minter, English Minter and Ashton Minter, all of Dallas, Texas as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24th at the Lander church of Christ, 1320 Sinks Canyon Road.An additional memorial for family is planned for mid-August.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be sent to: Hospice: Help for Health; 1240 College View Drive, Riverton, Wyoming 82501, or a children's home near you.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to all those that have ministered to Daphene in these last months:the staff at Showboat and Westward Heights and Hospice-Help for Health.
