Dallas Kramer Baker was born on August 25, 1932 to Donald Kramer Baker and Sevilla Helen Parks Baker in Guilford Township, Medina County, Ohio.

Dallas attended school in Wooster, Ohio where he met his soon-to-be wife Polly at Wooster High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Navy starting service on June 26, 1952. During his Navy career Dallas started on the heavy cruiser USS Nothhampton (CA-26) soon followed by the battleship USS Iowa (BB-61). He did one stint as recruiter in Somerset, Kentucky, and then served on the USS Midway (CVB-41) starting June 1960 and the USS Saratoga (CVA-60) starting in April 1964. He was then transferred to recruiting duty in Greeley, Colorado in November 1967 and finished up his 20-year career decommissioning the USS Procyon (AKA-2) and retiring on July 15, 1971 as a boiler technician chief senior grade. Upon returning to the family in Greeley, Dallas served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Weld County Sheriff’s Department and operated boilers at Kodak Colorado Division. Dallas and Polly moved to Lander in May 2000.

From his childhood Dallas has enjoyed guns, shooting and hunting. He had always been interested in history and was a member of the Fort Vasquez (Colorado) Muzzleloaders and Tin Cup Sooters Association. Here in Lander he joined the Wyoming Rangers, the local Cowboy Action Shooters and the Lander Valley Sportsman Association. Recently Dallas enjoyed the Monday .22 Rifle Target Shoots and has put together two flintlock rifles including carving the wood stocks in keeping with those of the 1800s.
