Dale Leslie Hancock of Lander died Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander, Wyoming. He was 93 years old. A visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Thursday, February 23rd at the Chapel of Mount Hope in Hudson's Funeral Home.Funeral services will start at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 23rd at the Chapel of Mount Hope in Hudson's Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Dale was born May 29, 1923 in Lander. He was the youngest of his siblings 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
He married Elane (Speyer) on October 26, 1945, they were married 67 years.Dale was a local rancher who lived on the Hancock Family Ranch on Willow Creek Road south of Lander. The family ranch was homesteaded by his father in 1903. Dale lived on the family ranch for 82 years where he was born and raised.Dale and Elane sold the ranch on Willow Creek in 2005 and moved to Basin, Wyoming.Dale returned to Lander in July 2013 and resided at Westward Heights until his death.
Dale loved his family raising his four boys on the ranch: Dale A. "Gus", James "J.J.", Eugene "Frank" "Tibo" and Charles "C.C."He was also very fond of spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.He enjoyed working on the ranch and some of his hobbies were hunting, fishing, and audio book reading.Dale was always happy spending time visiting about history of the area and knowledge gained from his reading. Dale worked numerous jobs in the Lander area, working at uranium mines, oil fields and rigs, Game and Fish Department, delivering fuel for local gas bulk plants, and helping other ranchers as well as his brothers and sons.
He is survived by his sons, Dale A. and his wife Shari of Prescott, Arizona, J.J. and his wife Charlotte of Mesquite, Nevada, Frank and his wife Renee of Lander, Wyoming, C.C. of Basin Wyoming, 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elane, parents William and Alice Hancock, his brothers James "Kime", Samuel, Rhett, Frank and Jeff, his sisters Adella, Edith, Iva and Ava as well as a grandson Jesse.
