Clara Louise Thayer (Thunder)

February 5, 1944 — March 26, 2017

Clara Louise (Calling Thunder) Thayer of Ethete, Wyoming passed away suddenly on March 26, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 73.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Blue Sky Hall in Ethete with Tony Sawick officiating. Interment will follow at the Friday Cemetery. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 with an all-night wake at the family home, 21 Thunder Lane in Ethete.

She was born on February 5, 1944 in Fort Washakie, the daughter of Cleone Iron and William Calling Thunder, Sr.

She graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School and Billings Business College and also attended Central Wyoming College.

Clara was an amazing woman with many awesome talents. She loved to create beautiful projects like the vests she made for her Whiteman brothers, always saying her brothers had to be the best dressed. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She especially treasured her time with her youngest great-granddaughter, Zayariah. She always had her word search puzzles on hand. Clara Louise always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.

She is survived by her brother, Richard Thunder; her sons, Travis Thayer (Lisa), Tremayne Thunder, Sr. (Annette), Chief Thunder (Missy), Richard Brannan (Kathleen), Rondell Guina, Sr. (Amberlee), Marvin Hill, William "B.K." Carpenter, James Bell and Carl Sleeper, Richard Brannan and Charles Chavis; her daughters, Tammi Pongah, Lisa Sailors, and Sherri C Bearing; sister in law, Verna Thunder; nieces, Marvene and Clarinda Calling Thunder (Alfred), Janell and Rhonda, Debra, Dawn, and Robin Thunder; nephew Lydell Thunder; grandchildren, Cleone Guina, Breanna Brown, Dunnie Pongah, Toorey Hill, Stanleda Hill, Tearlee Hill, CrowChief Hill, Jade Antelope, Ryan Thunder, Tremayne Thunder, Jr., Wakiza Thayer, Gabriella Thunder, Josiah and Antonio Thunder, Billie Thunder, Jose Schamp, Preston Schamp, Muriel Espinoza, Rylee Guina, Zayariah Guina, Jaydakay Albright, Paris Barrara, Jarryd Washington, Xavier Guina, Santana Martinez, Rondell Guina, Jr., Mario, Latasha, and Dustin Smith, LaKeisha Sailors, Keira, Iziah, DeAundre Oropeza, and Tracy and Torry Burson, Christina Lott, Kent Carpenter and Brad Harris. The families of Smith, Harris, Burson, Wanstall, Large, Martel, Hungary, Revere, Hamilton, Sleeper, Lumpmouth, Yellowhair, Fletcher, Willey, Pedro, Franklin, Weeks, Trosper, Whiteman, and Potter. The family apologizes if any of Clara's additional survivors were not listed.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cleone and William; brother William Thunder, Jr.; sister Grace Thunder; Sons, Thane Thunder, William "Booey" Thunder, and Robbie Bell; nephews, William Thunder III, Preston "Tony Brannan; grandchildren, Dodi Harris, Evan Smith, Marcus Thunder, Bryne Friday, Billie Carpenter, and Taylor Harris.
