Charles "Chuck" Worden Faulkner, a true Wyoming Cowboy, longtime resident of Lander, died in Billings, Montana on January 15, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital.
Chuck was born September 28, 1935 in Lander, Wyoming to Edith & Art Faulkner. He was raised and educated in Lander, graduating from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1954. Jim Graham and Chuck joined the United States Army on the buddy system, serving for two years. Chuck then went to college in California for two years.
Afterwards, Chuck returned to Lander where he met his future wife Florence Befus. They were married on December 15, 1960.
They purchased the Avalon Bar and later built Melody Liquors.
In High School Chuck belonged to the Rodeo Club. Chuck also worked on his parent'sYellow Stone Sheep Ranch in the summer and would come back in the fall to attend school.
Later in life he also became a member of the Cutter Race Association, the Sheriff's Posse, Lander Shrine Club, American Legion,and the VFW where he earned his 41 year pin.Being outdoors is what Chuck enjoyed the most, snowmobiling being one of his favorite activities.
Chuck loved his horses and took great pleasure helping out on his friends ranches.Later he purchased a team and wagon of his own, which he used for funerals, weddings, birthdays, and other events.He and his wagon were a familiar sight in the Fourth of July parade.Santa also counted on Chuck's help to get himinto town at Christmas time. Chuck was very active member ofthe community and could always be counted on when Lander needed his help. Chuck knowledge of Lander's history was well known.He could tell stories all day long.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Florence; sister, Mary Longtine Whitlock; nieces, Rene Faulkner-MacDonagh & Kelly Wayne; nephews, Cord Faulkner & Chuck Whitlock; and several cousins.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Art Faulkner & Edith Horton and younger brother Robert (Bobby) Faulkner.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Chapel of Mount Hope Hudson's Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service with will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Lander Community Center; followed by full Military Honors at Mount Hope Cemetery.
