Charlotte Jaikowski - Hare

December 18, 1915 — August 5, 2013

Charlotte Jakowski-Hare, of Riverton, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013. She was 97 years old.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Charlotte M. Jakowski was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Fort Mead, S.D., the eldest child of Mary Margaret McDonald Jakowski and Paul Jakowski. Her stepfather was Leo C. Hallock.
She grew up in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School. After she graduated, she moved to Chicago and worked for Schwinn Bicycle Company before joining the U.S. Army.
She enlisted in 1940, served during World War II and was honorably discharged May 16, 1946.
Afterward the war, she moved to Lander and worked for 30 years as a presser and dry cleaner for Ray'ces Cleaners in Lander. She retired in 1977.
For two years, she was a playground attendant at Northside School in Lander.
She was a member of the American Legion for 66 years, and she attended the Bethel Lutheran Church in Lander.
Her family said she loved living in the log cabin near the rise of the Popo Agie in Sinks Canyon before moving to town. They said she was an avid hunter, and in her younger years she participated in the One Shot Antelope Hunt. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Her family said she was a wonderful cook, especially during holiday dinners, and she created lots of memories for her older nephews and nieces.
She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Hallock, of Casper; nephews Dale Hallock and his wife Dorothy, Lee Hallock and Jeff Hallock; niece Susan Short; great-nephews Stoney Hallock and his wife Angie, Trapper Hallock, JD Hallock, Levi Hallock and his wife Cheylynn, Chance Hallock and his wife Jennifer and Colby Payne; great-nieces Heidi Short, Tammie Burch and Tabitha Johnson; great-great-nephews JD Hallock and Caden Hallock; and great-great-nieces Brittney Johnson, Kathleen Hallock and Riley Hallock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Paul Jakowski-Hallock, Leo C. Hallock Jr. and Jon David Hallock; and sister Margaret Jakowski-Hallock.
