Mr. Charles Patrick Jeffery Sr. passed peacefully at Wyoming Medical Center on April 19, 2017 in Casper Wyoming, at the age of 69. He will be enormously missed by family and friends who loved him dearly!!!
The Wake will be held from 5pm-8:30pm (Rosary will start at 7pm) on Monday, April 24th at St. Stephen's Mission in Arapaho, followed by an all-night Wake at the family home located at #11 Johnstown Spur in Kinnear. Funeral Services (Military, Catholic and Traditional) will begin at 10am on Tuesday, April 25th at Rocky Mountain Hall in Fort Washakie with burial to follow at Argon Family Cemetery in Kinnear with Full Military Honors.
Charles was born on April 16, 1948 in Ft. Washakie, WY to Linda (Aragon) Romero and Ernest Hanway. He married Linda Kay Johnson on June 25, 1966 in North Bend, Oregon. He joined the army in August of 1968, where he served eight years.He served one tour in the Vietnam War, three years in Germany and three years in Tacoma, Washington. After his service Charles became a jack of all trades, working several jobs, taking pleasure in Aerospace Mechanics, truck driving, working on Tribal Roads projects as well as many other projects and careers including crane operator in Sitka, Alaska.
Charles was a passionate man who enjoyed many things life had to offer, including hunting and fishing.He was a very involved individual and enjoyed many native cultural activities with his family. His children remember him as a great father and a great man with many accomplishments and fond memories!!!
Charles is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Linda Kay Jeffery, of Kinnear.His Children: Deneece Jeffery of Lander, Jenneffer (Jeffery) Baldez of Lander, Carolyn (Jeffery) Edmonds of Riverton, Charles Jeffery Jr. of Kinnear, Kristie (Jeffery) Wright of Lander, Melissa (Jeffery) Proctor of Dickinson, North Dakota, and Ksandra Jeffery of Kinnear.His grandchildren include: Silver Jeffery, Brian Jeffery, Albert Baldez, Tiffany Baldez, Kyrstien Baldez, Marc Edmonds, Misty Jeffery, Thomas Edmonds, Darien Edmonds, David Jeffery, Isabelle Jeffery, Jordan Wright, Brendan Wright, Caleb Wright, Kiara (Kiki) Wright, McKenna Proctor, Hailey Proctor, and Tucker Proctor.Great Grandchildren: Hayden Baldez and Brandon Jeffery.Brothers and sisters include John Romero of Seattle Washington, Cindy Hesston of Valdez, Alaska, Theresa Hanway of Arapahoe, Paul Joe Hanway of Arapahoe, Darrell Hanway of Arapahoe, Katherine Hanway of Arapahoe, Darlene (Hanway) Lopez of Arapahoe, Patricia Hanway of Arapahoe, Step sister Elaine Wilson of Arapahoe, and Gene Meyers of Lander.Charles also has many nieces, nephews and cousins of both Shoshone and Arapahoe descent as well as Aunts and Uncles whom he cared about very much but are too numerous to recount.
He was preceded in death by natural mother Linda (Aragon) Romero, natural father Ernest Hanway, Adoptive mother and father Alta and Melvin Jeffery, Daughter Summer D. Jeffery, Grandson David Jeffery. Brothers: Arthur (Taddy) Romero, Ernest C. Hanway Jr., Elmer (Tucker) Jeffery, Frances L. Romero. Sisters: Geraldine Pendergrass, Adela Metlicko, Leona Hayden and Carolyn (Hanway) Blenco.
An open viewing is scheduled for Monday, April 24th at 5:00 P.M., with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 P.M. at St. Stephen's Mission in Arapahoe, Wyoming. Wake services and overnight vigil to proceed at his home located at #11 Johnstown Spur, Kinnear, Wyoming after the service.
