Catherine Elizabeth Lacroix

Catherine Elizabeth (Christiansen) (Huemer) LaCroix, 80, passed away February 28, 2023 in Lander Wyoming.

The Funeral Litergy will be lead by the Family at 10:00am, Monday, March 6, 2023 in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Cathy was bom April 16, 1942 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Harold Glen Christiansen and Mary Frances Howes.. When she was a small child, she moved to Denver Colorado and graduated from Saint Francis de Sales High School in 1960. She eamed her degree in sociology from Colorado State University. Following graduation, she worked for United Airlines for one year and spent a few years in San Francisco and Denver as a social worker. She moved to Hawaii and earned a masters degree in social work.

Cathy enjoyed her career in social work tirelessly helping many. After working as a social worker in Hawaii for a few years, she continued her career in Denver for one year. She moved to Lander in 1986 where she worked as a social worker for various agencies, retiring from the Arapahoe Clinic at the age of 79.

In addition to her dedication to family and career, she was very committed to the Pine Ridge community where she danced for four years and attended Sundance frequently. Her life in Lander was spiritually committed to the Oglala Sioux Tribe and the Wind River Reservation.

Cathy adopted her grandmother's maiden name LaCroix to honor her French Canadian ancestry.

Cathy is survived by her loving son Anthony Huemer, sister Karen Christiansen, brother

Stephen Christiansen and seven nieces and nephews- She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the many people she helped throughout her career.
