Catherine Barbara Gustin

Catherine Barbara Gaylord Gustin passed away October 22, 2024 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Casper.

She was born March 12, 1932 in Shoshoni Wyoming to Lillian (Billie) and Spencer Gaylord.  She was the third of six children.

Cathey went to school in Lander and graduated from Fremont Vocational High School in 1950.  She then went to nursing school at Bannock Hospital in Pocatello Idaho.  She graduated with a RN degree and moved back to Lander.

In September of 1955 she married Raymond Gustin and they had four children.  They moved to Pavillion where they ranched and raised kids.  She worked at Morton school as the school nurse.  She also worked as an ER nurse in Lander and at the Arapahoe  clinic.  Later she worked as the nurse at Wyoming Indian schools which she retired from.  After she retired, she volunteered at the Lander Senior Center.  She loved helping others and especially loved all the kids from the schools.  You could not go into any store in Lander without running into a child/adult that she had known.

Cathey and Ray loved to travel.  After she retired, they would take the camper and just go. They went to many places including Niagara Falls, Branson, Washington and wherever the wind took them.  In the winter they spent a few months in Yuma, AZ. They loved spending time with family especially their grandkids.

Cathey is survived by son Mike (Julie) of Durango, Co., Daughters, Barb Gustin of Lander, WY,Jen Ivey (Steve)of Olympia, WA and Sue Pauli (Dan) of Douglas, WY.  Also10 grandkids, 15 great-grandkids and 1 great-great grandchild due April 2025.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that adored her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray of 61 years, her parents, two sisters, three brothers, one grandson and many brothers and sisters in laws. She is the last of her generation.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Hudson's Funeral Home (680 Mount Hope Drive, Lander, Wy 82520).
