Carol Sue Kasselder, affectionately known as Sue, passed away in Lander, Wyoming, on May 1, 2025, at the age of 81, with her family at her side. Her last days were filled with visits from family and friends, deep love, lots of stories, and both rainy and sunny weather—typical of springtime in Wyoming.
Sue was born to Mary and Walt Field on May 25, 1943, in Spalding, Nebraska, the oldest of four daughters. It is hard to capture 81 years of life in a paragraph or two, so we are highlighting her and her life to paint the most perfect picture possible.
Raised on a ranch outside of Bartlett, Nebraska, for most of her young life, she developed grit along with a "can-do" attitude, interwoven with compassion and a deep love of learning. She lived her life on her own terms, which brought her years of joy and fun. She was deeply devoted to her husband, Keith Kasselder, and raising their three children—Paul, Jeanene, and Craig—with that same grit, devotion, joy, and fun.
Never one to be fearful, it was a good day for a stray dog or a hitchhiker, because she made sure their day—or life—would be better. She had many friends, and whether it was lunch or Bible study, she enjoyed it all. Along with her social life, the earth stopped spinning briefly when the Huskers were playing—she was a loyal fan, through the good, the bad, and the ugly.
She was the same way with her family—through all the seasons, although, in her eyes, none of the seasons were bad, she was our loyal fan.
We love her and are missing her, confident we will see her again on the other side.
Sue is survived by her children, Jeanene and Craig; daughter-in-law, Vickie Kasselder of Lake Havasu City, AZ; her grandson, Andrew (Joelle) Titus; granddaughter, Chloe (Daniel) McLane, all of Lander, Wyoming; three great-grandchildren; and her beloved sisters, Tammy (Jim) Hinkle of Lake Forest, CA; Dixie Kruntorad of Wagner, SD; and Peggy Rickard of Atkinson, NE, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, and son, Paul; her parents, Mary and Walt Field; in-laws, Alice and Lloyd Kasselder; Duane Kruntorad, Warren Rickard, Patty, Kenneth, and Gene Kasselder, nieces, Jean Burr, Terry, and Theresa.
Graveside services will be held June 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bartlett Cemetery in Bartlett, NE, with a luncheon to follow at the Bartlett Church of Faith.
