Blaine Journal Sanderson

July 28, 1944 — August 7, 2024

On Wednesday, August 7, 2024 Blaine Journal Sanderson, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away. He was eighty years old. Born to James "Journal" and Vera Sanderson, Blaine was the fourth of eight children, born July 28, 1944 in Afton, Wyoming.

Early in Blaine's life his family moved to a ranch in Challis, Idaho. This is where he met the beautiful, Nancy Young. They knew each other for quite some time before they began dating. It did not take long before Blaine knew Nancy was the true love of his life. On May 24,1969 they married at the, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in Challis, Idaho. For fifty-four years of marriage, they were true life partners. They built a family together, welcoming first Shane, then Jodi, and Marlena into their lives. He was a proud father and built a closeness with his children that they will always cherish. With the loss of his beloved wife earlier this year, they are once more united in their love.

From a young age, Blaine felt a close affinity with horses and being in nature. The love of the outdoors shaped his life. Together with Nancy, he was involved in cleaning and maintaining mountain trails, running multiple ranches (with his beloved horses), even operating a guest ranch for those looking for an authentic western experience. He never backed down from hard work having spent his later years working with stone and fencing. Blaine was a true cowboy and mountain man his entire life.

Grandchildren: Jonathon, Riley, Zak, Klayton, Josie, Josh, Isac, Morgan, Kimberlee, Katelynn. Two great-grandchildren.
