Barbara Ann Green

October 31, 1939 — July 30, 2024

Barbara Ann Green, of Lander, Wyoming, passed away on July 30, 2024 at Westward Heights in Lander.  Barbara was 84 years old.  Barbara was born in Billings, Montana on October 31, 1939, to Glenn E. Livingston and Florence Larsen Livingston.  Barbara grew up in Cody, Wyoming, where her father was a school administrator at Cody Junior High and her mother was a teacher at Eastside Elementary School.  Barbara attended high school in Cody where she graduated in 1957, and met her future husband, Stephen W. Green, while watching him ride his donkey, Jack, in the Cody Night Rodeo Parade in the summer.

Barbara and Stephen were married on June 28, 1958 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cody.  During her high school career and after, Barbara worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell.  Barbara and Stephen went to school in Laramie where Stephen received a degree in Education.  Barbara's first two sons, Shane and Brian, were both born in Laramie.  The family moved to Lander in 1962 when Stephen accepted a teaching position at Fremont County Vocational High School as an Auto Mechanics teacher.  Barbara had two more sons, Tim and Kevin through the 60's.  Barbara was a stay-at-home mother for many years, subbing at local schools as the boys got older.  Due to a fluke, Barbara became a self-taught dental assistant to Dr. Dick Martin and Dr. Tom Kohlhardt, spending many years in this position.  After, Barbara spent many years working at the hospital in Lander as a patient advocate.  Barbara also spent nearly 30 years serving on the Board of Fremont Counseling.

Barbara had interests that kept her busy over the years.  She was a life-long Catholic and later in life went to Daily Mass. Barbara was also an avid bridge player.   Barbara spent much of her married life watching her four boys in many activities.  She and Stephen loved spending time at their cabin at South Pass with family and grandchildren (especially in the Summer and Fall).  Barbara loved sewing and was an avid quilter, making many great creations over the years.  Barbara spent many wonderful birthdays (Halloween) over the years with the whole family at her home in Lander, giving out candy to the trick-or-treaters.  Barbara also loved her many pets over the years.  There was always a pet around her house.  Barbara's greatest passion was cooking and she did it her whole life.

Barbara is survived by:  brother Donald of Cody; children Shane (Tammy), Lander; Brian (Kerrie), Lander; Tim (Jenny), Lander; Kevin (Debbie), Lander; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stephen, granddaughter, Claire, great grandson, Patrick Gregory, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

No services are pending at this time.  Cremation has taken place.  A Rosary will be scheduled at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Church of the Ascension in Hudson, Wyoming, or Fremont Counseling, 748 Main Street, Lander, would be greatly appreciated.
