Audrey Marie (Rippenkroger) Foster, 82, of Yuma, Arizona, and formerly of Lander, Wyoming, passed away on February 9, 2026, at River Valley Estates. Remembered for her quiet strength, steadfast devotion to family, and unwavering work ethic, Audrey leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, resilience, and a life lived in service to others.
Born on November 4, 1943, in Fort Madison, Iowa, Audrey was the daughter of Edward and Rose Marie (Baldwin) Rippenkroger. She was raised by her mother alongside her three older brothers—Kenneth, Donald, and Francis—in a home where resourcefulness and perseverance were essential. As a young girl, she delighted in simple joys, often riding her bicycle with her dog, Butterfly, trotting faithfully at her side.
Audrey’s life was forever shaped on February 11, 1967, when she married Ronald Earl Foster. Their marriage became the foundation of a partnership defined by mutual respect, shared purpose, and deep affection. Together, they built a life centered on family and hard work. Their bond endured for more than 55 years, and their love for one another remained evident through every season of their lives.
She and Ron made their home in Lander, Wyoming, where they raised their four children—Barbara, Christina, Ray, and Rose. The Fosters became well known in the community through their involvement in the Lander Valley Baptist Church and through the businesses they operated, including the Silver Spur Motel, Go Get ’Em RV, Silver’s Carpet Cleaning, and several rental properties. Audrey contributed to each venture with characteristic diligence, but her greatest work was always her family. As a mother, she gave endlessly—her sacrifices quiet, her love constant.
Audrey gamely joined every hunting, camping, and fishing adventure—whether or not it was her idea of fun—because time with her family mattered more to her than comfort or preference. She especially loved dancing with Ron, a pastime that reflected the joy they found in each other’s company. In retirement, the two embraced their love of travel, exploring destinations across the globe and visiting every continent except Antarctica.
Her final years were marked by profound devotion as she cared for Ron through significant health challenges. His passing in 2022 was a deep loss, yet her commitment to him remained a testament to her strength and to the enduring bond they shared. Their partnership continues to be remembered by all who witnessed it.
Audrey is survived by her children: Barbara Hedges (Darrell) of Yuma, Arizona; Christina Vandeventer (Cecil) of Douglas, Wyoming; Ray Foster (Sharon) of Canyon Lake, Texas; and Rose Young (Michael) of Ukiah, California. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and thirteen great‑grandchildren, with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Hudson’s Funeral Home in Lander, Wyoming. A viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., and a reception will follow the service. Friends and community members are warmly invited to attend.
