Ardis Emily Goodrich Johnson, 90, of Lander, Wyoming passed away at home on May 28, 2024, in Lander, Wyoming. Ardis was born in Bluebell, Utah, to John and Rosezella Goodrich on September 21, 1933. Her brothers, sisters, and cousins were her best friends. After graduating from Altamont High School in 1951 she met the love of her life, Donald Ralph Johnson at a café in Roosevelt, Utah. They married on February 23, 1952, and enjoyed 72 years of happiness. Together they lived in several states before settling in Lander, Wyoming where she has lived for 64 years.
Ardis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a devoted visiting teacher and served in the Relief Society, Primary, and Cub Scouting program. She loved working with children and worked in Daycare for many years. She treated all children as if they were her own. Many of the children she taught would often stop by her home to see her and thank her for the loving care she gave them.
She was a loyal member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP). She was proud of her pioneer heritage and loved attending the monthly meetings and sharing stories of the bravery and courage her ancestors exhibited in traveling west and settling in Utah.
She loved flowers and her home was surrounded by flowering plants and bushes. She would often be found outside tending to her flower beds. The petunias in her front planter were beautiful and the envy of all her neighbors.
She was known for her sense of humor. She had a quick wit and an infectious laugh. She was thoughtful and kind and was always helping those in need.
Her family was the most important thing to her and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful Mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.
She in survived by her husband, Donald Ralph Johnson, daughter, Cindy Edwards, daughter, Janet Despain (Bob), Son, Bruce Johnson (Nancy), Son, Kent Johnson (Beth), Son, Kevin Johnson, and daughter, Karen Smith, 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 14 great, great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, and her beloved son, Brent.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints meeting house at 653 Cascade Street. Visitation will be at 9:00 am in the Relief Society Room.
